Presentation I: Repurposing EAD via XSLT

I outlined how I reuse EAD XML by using XSLT to output tab-delimited text files, which I then feed into Mail Merge templates in Word.

Here's the gist:

• Transform EAD (example: beinecke.bourbel.xml) using brbl.labels.folders.xsl, outputting a txt file (example: beinecke.bourbel.labels.txt)
• Open the TXT file in Excel, save as a .xls file (example: beinecke.bourbel.labels.xls).  You can best proof and make tweaks to the .xls.
• Open the Word Mail Merge template Template_Folder Labels.doc.  Select the .xls file as the data source.
• Merge the file to a new document and you have a Word doc full of labels ready for printing.  You can use this for anything that lends itself to a mail merge template.
